Community Garden

A large portion of Uniting care land was set aside for the creation of a Community Garden and this work was undertaken by volunteers during the 2016 calendar year thanks to the guidance and enthusiasm of our Preacher Mr Graham Jones. Whilst open to all residents and visitors to the Nambucca Heads region, there has been a strong effort to get school children involved in a "hands on" basis together with aged and the handicapped persons.

Shire Mayor, Ms Rhonda Hoban honoured our Community Garden project by
cutting the ribbon for us during the official opening ceremony in Spring 2016

A prestigious Government Award was displayed with much pride at the opening ceremony.

We were extremely pleased to welcome a number of elderly residents from Uniting Care's "Pacifica Aged Care Facility. We hope to see them making good use of the garden on a regular basis.

It's still very much early days yet but our Community Garden is now coming along nicely.

We have a modest chicken coop with a clutch of chickens. Early on it was decided that having some chickens on site would be good for the ambience be appreciated by the young and the aged alike.

Volunteer, Ian You receives some expert help from students who attend the neighbouring school.
